Love is in the air

Dear Readers,

Hope you are doing well!

Today´s story is my contribution to the Sylvanian Forum challenge#2: "Love is all around".

Peter got up early this morning. He wanted to avoid queues at the supermarket and at the flower shop.He wasn´t a romantic until he met Peace but now, look at him! He´s just bought a lovely bunch of red roses and all the ingredients to make breakfast for his girlfriend. Even though he shows her how much he loves her everyday, today he wants to do something special as it´s Valentine´s Day.

He´s going to prepare Peace´s favourite breakfast: pancakes with berries and cream. He made them before using a pancake mix from the supermarket but this time he´s trying his best to make homemade pancakes following Grandma´s Babblebrook recipe. She made them on Christmas morning and, strangely as it may seem, they were delicious.

Peace is a sleepyhead but as soon as Peter entered the bedromm she woke up. Having her boyfriend wake her up with a bouquet of roses and breakfast in bed was priceless.

"Oh, Peter your are worth your weight in gold", she said stretching her arms out to give him a hug.

Peace was delighted with Peter´s nice gesture. She couldn´t believe her eyes when she saw that he had even made a latte heart on her coffee!

After enjoying breakfast, Peace also had prepared something special for Peter. "Do you feel like trying something new? I have a surprise for you?" Peace said with a big smile on her face. She knows that Peter likes adventures and trying new things so she wanted to surprise him with something different and original for Valentine´s Day.

Peace told Peter that they had to wrap up or else they were going to be a little bit cold. The scarves that Grandma gave them for Christmas would come in handy. " Are you going to take me skiing, ice skating, maybe? Peter asked intrigued but Peace didn´t give him a hint.

They walked for a while until they came to a meadow where Mr. Highbranch was waiting for them with a camara and a pair of binoculars.

Next to him there was a kind of airship, actually it looked like a flying trycicle with a kind of fancy rugby ball above. "Ready for a sky  ride adventure?" Peace asked .It had been a long time since Peter had been this excited. This was something new and different!

Mr. Highbranch gave them a basic understanding of how to keep the flying machine in the air and the best landing technique. Then he handed them the binoculars and the camera.

"Enjoy the views from the heights!Have fun"

So they climbed up and their adventure began . Among the clouds Peace asked Peter: "Do you like my Valentine´s Day gift?" He just smiled and kissed her,

leaving behind them a trail of clouds in the shape of a heart. More than any other day we can say that today "love is in the air".

After such an exciting adventure the best plan they could come up with was to order a pizza and a bottle of good Sylvanian wine and spend the rest of Valentine's Day snuggled up on the sofa in the comfort of their own home.

Hope you had enjoyed this short story about my favourite sylvanian couple.I bought the "Sky Ride Adventure" set a few years ago and shortly after I regretted it. As I don't know how to use photoshop I had no idea how to take a decent picture and make look like the airship was flying in the sky.

With the help of my daughter, a sky backdrop and a piece of dental floss we managed to make it look like it was flying in the sky. My daughter edited the photo so that a little piece of floss was not visible.I used the Canva app to make the hearts, the shaped clouds and the rest of the details in the last photo. These are my first attempts at photo editing.

The scarves that Grandma gave Peter and Peace for Christmas were actually made by my daughter as a gift for them.

They´re a bit oversized but the bigger they are the warmer they they will be on cold winter days.

That´s all for today. I would like to post a new story soon but life gets in the way. Work and family issues take up so much of my time. I should make an effort to keep time reserved for my Sylvanians and myself. Spending time with them  makes my life happier.

Hugs and Love!

  1. Hi Cutata! What a sweet story for celebrating Valentine's Day. I always enjoy catching up with Peter and Peace. They are a lovely couple, and it was wonderful seeing how they both put in the effort for Valentine's Day. I thought it was heartwarming how Peter made Peace's favourite breakfast for her - lucky Peace! Not only is Peter a great boyfriend, but those pancakes looked delicious!

And it was very thoughtful of Peace to arrange the sky ride adventure for them, something she knew he would enjoy! I thought you did an amazing job on the photos - well done! I too, have had the sky ride adventure set for several years but have never photographed it. I settled on having it hanging in my room. The pictures you did are wonderful - they look like something from a postcard! Just beautiful.

Once again, you outdid yourself with the details in this post. I love visiting Peter and Peace's cottage! I especially liked the miniature Kombi van in their bedroom and Peace's nightgown. You are so creative - and the scarves your daughter made a lovely and very thoughtful, too.

Thank you for sharing this story. Hope you had a lovely Valentine's! <3

  2. Hi Kelsie,

Thanks a lot for your kind comment!

Peter and Peace had a lovely Valentine´s Day and I also enjoyed setting up the scenes for this story.
It didn't take me as long as other times because Peter and Peace's house is set up. I just had to tidy it up a bit.

The inspiration for this story came to me suddenly. I thought it would be a good opportunity to use the sky ride adventure set but I was not sure how to make the pictures in the sky look realistic enough. My daughter held the sky ride set with a piece of dental floss and I took the picture with her brand new phone . She edited it on her phone by painting the sky to cover a piece of the floss.I couldn´t have taken this picture without her help.

The caravan is made of paper. It pretends to be a piggy bank in which Peter and Peace keep their savings to buy a real caravan. They must have a good amount of sylvans as they have been saving for years.

Peace's nightgown is a little piece of lace ribbon. I cut the thinner part for the straps. It is not a real nightgown, but as she didn´t get out of bed, it looks good in the photo.

I´m glad you liked this story. I´m looking forward to reading the stories you´re working on.

    Have a wonderful day!

  4. Hi Montse!
Thanks a million for your kind words!
I´m very happy to hear you enjoyed this story!
My daughter was a great help in taking pictures of the sky and it was very thoughtful of her to make scarves for Peter and Peace.
There will be a new blog post soon, at least that's my intention, as long as real life doesn't get in the way.
    Have a lovely day!

  5. Hi Cutata!

I continue to express wonderment at your photos. The home of Peter and Peace is full of wonderful detail and as I look at it I realise how cleverly you have created something that amplifies the character of those lovely bunnies!

And now you have gone beyond your splendid craftwork and immersive writing and ventured into a little photo-editing. Well done!

It is a coincidence that you used your Sky Ride Adventure at a time when I'm building up to use mine. I delayed buying one for some time because I didn't see how it could fit in one of my stories. Even when I succumbed and bought one I didn't have a purpose in mind. How funny that we must have had ideas on using one around the same time! Haha! It's a super picture where Peter and Peace are aloft, looking lovingly at each other.

    Great work as always.
    Take care my friend!

    1. Hi Jackson,
Thanks a lot for your positive feedback.
My photo editing skills are very basic but for a first attempt it worked. At least I have been able to use the Sky Ride Adventure set.

You really are an expert in photo editing. You are getting better and better. Your outdoor photos are always amazing.

It is a coincidence that we both thought of using this set. Great minds thinks alike! Ha ha. I can't wait to see what happens with Jackson and the flying machine. Hope
everything works out well if they take into account Cecile´s ideas.

      Have a lovely day!

What an adorable Valentine's Day story! I love the special breakfast Peter made for Peace and how cozy she looked in bed. And wow, what a lovely surprise she planned for him! What a great idea so use the sky ride set! Peter and Peace look like they had a wonderful and romantic experience soaring the skies. How sweet that your daughter helped you with the photo editing. The edited pictures look great. Love those heart clouds! And the scarves she made for the happy couple are just adorable. The bigger, the cozier!

Have a wonderful week, my friend, and thank you for this lovely story!

    1. Hi Ayrell,

Thanks a lot for your nice comment!

I´m glad to know you enjoyed this story.
It has been one of those stories that come out of the blue. A burst of inspiration all of a sudden!

It seemed to me a good opportunity to use this set because ,although it is very nice, it is not something that is of much use.

It was very thoughtful of my daughter to make the scarves for Peter and Peace. She also made some more that I used to wrap up other Sylvanians in my last Christmas story.
Spring is around the corner so they´ll have to put away their scarves until next winter.

      Have a wonderful day!
