Primrose and the secret language of flowers

Dear Readers,

I hope you are all doing well!

As I mentioned in my last post, I was working on a new story related to spring. It’s finally finished!

This is my contribution to the third prompt of 2026 for Sylvanian Creations: "Springtime."

I hope you like it!

.....................................................................................................................................................................

Primrose Meadow had always felt a special connection to nature. She spent her days exploring the woods and medows of Sylvania, becoming an expert on every plant and flower.

Her passion for plants led her to study botany.

Her knowledge eventually inspired her to write two successful books: The Secret Language of Flowers and The Art of Flower Arranging.

Primrose wanted to share all she knew about plants with everyone across Sylvania, so she used the earnings from her books to start her own business. After learning to drive, she bought a second-hand truck and customized it into her mobile flower shop.

A sign always hangs from her rearview mirror with the word "Spring",a nod to her favourite season, when nature looks its best."

She named her business"Meet Flowever" out of her love for the art of pressing flowers and transforming them into beautiful framed compositions. She often said, "A fresh bouquet is a treat for a week, but a pressed flower is a memory you keep forever".

One day, Primrose visited a small, quiet village for the first time. As soon as she set up her display,a handsome deer approched the truck.

He began looking through the flowers.Usually, Primrose stayed inside to let customers browse in peace, but this time, she felt a spark of curiosity.

She stepped out to greet him.

"Hi! Can I help you find something?" she asked.

"Well, yes," the deer replied. "I’d like to pick out some flowers for a bouquet."

"Is it for a wife or a girlfriend? A special occasion?" Primrose asked, trying to sound casual.

The deer chuckled. "No, I’m single and fancy-free. They’re actually for my mother. There are no flower shops in our village, so I thought this was the perfect chance to surprise her."

"Oh,that’s very sweet of you!" she said feeling a little flutter of excitement at the news that he was single.

She then helped him choose the flowers and arranged them into a lovely bouquet.

Over the following weeks, Primrose made sure to visit that village every single Tuesday. The more she spoke with the deer, whose name was Marius, the more she realized how much they had in common.

One afternoon, Marius bought a bouquet for his mother along with a ceramic pot and a packet of seeds.

A few weeks later, as the flower truck arrived at the grassy clearing, Primrose was already busy. She was attending to a customer, selling a bouquet and explaining how to keep the stems fresh, so she couldn’t see a familiar figure approaching from a distance."

He slowed his pace as he arrived.

"Good morning, Primrose!" he greeted her warmly.

"Morning,Marius!" she greeted back with a smile.

He hopped off his bike and reached into his bicycle basket. He lifted out a terracotta pot of red primroses in full bloom.

"These are for you," he said. "I grew them from the seeds I bought a few weeks ago. I read your book, so I know exactly what they mean."

Primrose was speechless. She remembered exactly what she had written in her book "The secret language of flower": that the primrose represents new beginnings and eternal love. Specifically, she had noted that red primroses symbolize passion, charm, and longing, the perfect gift for a crush or a new romantic partner.

"I can´t believe you read my boook! I’m impressed! Primrose said, feeling her face blushing.

"I wanted to make sure the message was clear," Marius replied softly. "I'm very glad you decided to drive your truck to this village."

Primrose looked at Marius, her heart was racing. "Thank you so much for the flowers. It was such a thoughful gesture. Now I...I really should be getting back on my route," she said. "The next village is waiting."

As she stepped towards to start putting the flowers back in the truck, her eyes fell on a small basket of seed packets.

She pulled out a small envelope of Forget-me-nots,and handed it to Marius. "Here," she whispered. "Plant these."

Marius looked down at the packet, then back up at her with a knowing smile. "You can be sure I won't forget you, Primrose."

She was about to say, “I won’t forget you either,” but instead she just said: “Make them bloom and don’t forget to water them. I’ll be back next Tuesday.”

“I’ll take care of it!” Marius promised. He paused for a second, looking at the red flowers in her hand. "And you... take care of the red primroses, too," he added softly.

Primrose felt a warm feeling in her chest. She understood exactly what he meant. He wasn't just talking about the flowers;he was talking about them.

As she began to tidy her displays inside the truck, Marius stepped forward to help her lift the heavier items and tuck everything back into place.

Once everything was safely stored away,he hopped back on his bike and began pedaling off down the path.

"See you on Tuesday!" he said, giving her one last smile.

Primrose watched him go until he disappeared around the corner.

Now alone, she turned to the red primroses on the counter. She thought about how a relationship was a lot like a new plant. You couldn't just leave it alone and expect it to stay beautiful; you had to keep showing up and taking care of it so it didn't "dry out".

If they both kept putting in the effort, she was sure their connection would bloom at its very best.

With a heart full of hope, Primrose secured the back doors of her truck.

She was ready to begin her journey to the next village, already counting the days until next Tuesday.

To be continued...

I hope you liked meeting Primrose and her mobile flower shop. The truck was a kit my sister bought for me. She started the assembly  and I finished it. The moment I saw it, I knew exactly who the owner should be.

In addition to assembling the truck, I also crafted several items, such as the packets of seeds, the red primroses, and the pressed flower pictures. I also designed the covers for Primrose’s books.

Long-time readers might notice this is the first time hamsters and koalas have appeared in my stories. I actually unboxed the hamsters just for this story. I hadn't given them much attention before, but they are really cute.

The koala, it´s the one that comes with the scooter.I think it´s adorable.

While both families will eventually move to Sweet Berry Valley, they’re perfect for whenever I want to set a story in a different part of Sylvania.

This wasn't actually the first story idea I had in mind, but I thought it was a great way to introduce Primrose and her business while leaving the door open for a second part. Hopefully, I’ll have some free time during the Easter break to take more photos and start writing part two.

See you soon!

🌺Have a lovely spring!🌺
