The Buckleys´ home (Part 1)

Dear Readers,

The Buckley Red Reindeer family was one of the first families I added to my collection and therefore one of my favourites.
Last summer (2017) I decorated Beechwood Hall for them.

Today, they are going to show us their home.
Hope you enjoy the tour around their house.
You´re all welcome!

The first room you find as you enter is the kitchen.

The living room is also on the bottom floor.

The bathroom is also downstairs. They built an extension in order to have a big bathroom.

The bedrooms are on the top floor.

This is the parents´ bedroom. It´s a bit small but it has access to a big balcony.

Maria and Oscar share the same bedroom.

Freddie´s bedroom is tiny but he´s happy to have a bedroom of his own.

Full view of the children´s bedrooms.

This is a full view of the Buckleys´ home.

I´ll write a much longer follow-up post to show you some other pictures of the Buckleys at home.

I find this family adorable!

Beechwood Hall is also a lovely building but I wish it was a bit bigger. There was no place for a bathroom, that´s why I had to attach the extension.

Hope you enjoyed today´s post.

Thanks for reading, my Friends!

A big hug!

  1. Hi Cutata!

Thank you for posting the Buckley's home! Loved looking at your pictures, as always! I adore the little details that make the home look lived-in and so much cozier, and the hand-made curtains, etc, look awesome!

I like that you used the extension to make a big bathroom, such a great idea! I'm looking forward to being able to use the big bag tub in a Sylvanian home, there never seems to be enough space!
Love the table and chairs on the balcony, such a great idea!
All three bedrooms look really comfortable. Well done! :D
Looking forward to the pictures with their Buckleys in their home. They sure are adorable!

    1. Hi Ayrell,
Thanks so much for your nice comment!I agree with you about the lack of space for a proper bathroom in Sylvanian homes. It´s always the same story, one has to choose between having a bedroom or a bathroom. Luckily, the extension gave me the chance to give the Buckleys a big bathroom.
Maybe, you´ll be able to use the bathtub in Cedar Terrace. You can use one floor or part of it as a bathroom.
Agatha also loves having a table and chairs on the balcony. You´ll see why when I have the next post ready. I started choosing some pictures for the second part of the post a couple of weeks ago but this last week has been terrible so I haven´t done much since then.

Hope you have a lovely week!

  2. I love the idea of the extension, I have few furniture (very expensive here and quite hard to find, it's so... weird) and never found a good idea for this house... But an extension is for sure the best solution ! Thank you so much for sharing the idea !
Your house looks so beautiful and comfortable, the Buckley's must enjoy living there ! Your blog is always a wonderful source of inspiration !

    1. Hi Sophie!
Thank your for leaving a comment. I´m glad you like The Buckley´s home. You spotted a Plaympbil set in Freddie´s room. You guessed right, he likes Playmobil. I used to collect Playmobil until I came across Sylvanians and I totally fell in love with them . I still like Playmobil but Sylvanians are first on the list.Their cuteness and attention to detail won me over.

      Have a nice week!

    1. Hi Sylvanako!
Your kind words are always a gift for me. I´m happy you like this house. I love adding little details. They make houses more homey. Have you spotted a kind of glass bowl next to the flower vase on the mantelpiece? Ha ha, they´re a pair of contact lenses! One day, when I took them off I looked at them and I saw a glass bowl for my Sylvanians. Still lacking inspiration now. Hope it comes back soon.
      Have a lovely week!

  6. Hello Cutata,

Many thanks for the Buckleys' tour of Beechwood Hall!

The kitchen is adorable. I love how you combined the wallpaper with all those red items. This makes it look very friendly and cosy. Like a fun place to bake and cook. The vintage sign and the red flowers make a lovely deco.

The living room is a perfect combination of elegance and comfort. The blue colour is soothing, yet the white dots on the wall are very lively. It looks like a great place to entertain visitors. Love the cute family photo above the sofa and the gorgeous cabinet with the pink & blue china.

How wonderful to have so much space for a proper bathroom. Beautiful pastel colours and lots of sunlight - the Periwinkles love it.

The wallpaper in the parents' bedroom is very pretty, as well as the golden alarm clock. I envy Mrs Buckley for the practical dresser!

The childrens' bedrooms are small but very complete. I am pretty sure they like spending time there, doing homework at their desks, or reading in their beds.

Thanks for sharing the photos of this beautiful home!

My regards and best wishes to the Buckleys!

  7. I love it! I think you managed to improvise really well here!! I often think that the buildings that dont have the most straight forward floor/room plans are the most exciting to furnish because you have to think around the obstacles! It is a great combo of style and elegance with a bit of homliness! I quite like small rooms because they are private and quiet, the best places to imagine things and have some you time.
You must have a lot of material and paper, because I never see the same patterns twice!! I think I need to stock up soon...
Anyway, thanks for the lovely guided tour!!
Look forward to part 2 :)

    1. Hi Isla!
It took me a while to arrange the furniture, well, it always does when I decorate a new house. As I said on the post, I thought Beechwood Hall was bigger than it actually is. The romos upstairs are quite small for a family with children. Sylvanians usually have large families but houses are not that big.

I love scrapbooking paper so when I see a block or a sheet of paper I like, I buy it. The wallpaper in the kitchen is the same I used for Betty Blackberry´s juice bar. I found this one on the internet and I printed it.

As for the fabric I have, they are small pieces of leftovers my mum had at home. She didn´t like sewing much but she used to make clothes for my sister and me when we were young childen.I remember I used to have a padded jacket my mum made for me in the same fabric I used for Agatha´s and Rupert´s bedding. She even made a pencil case out that fabric. My sister had a night dress in the fabric I used for Freddie´s bedding and the pink one in Maria´s bed was also used for the outside of a baby blanket my mother made when my first daughter was born.
I also reuse clothes that are not good enough to give to charity. I made a sofa out of one of my father´s old checked shirts and another one in blue out of one of my son´s nursery uniform. This way homes have a kind of familiar and homey feeling to me.

      Have a lovely week!

    2. Ahhhh thats so sweet!! I actually do the same thing, I use my old clothes that dont fit anymore and my mum always saves her scraps for me too! Its a great way to keep an item of clothing with memories attached to it that cant be worn anymore but instead of getting rid of it, you can give it a new life!
Hope you have a great week too! Hugs 😊

  8. Oh! And I keep forgetting to ask, where do you buy your plants? I see lots of hedges, flowers and foliage in your houses and miniature scenes and would be interested to know!! Thank you in advance :)

  9. I buy them in the garden section of some stores. I even have a tree that it´s meant to be placed in a fish tank. Today I went to IKEA. I go once in a blue moon so I bought an artificial plant to use in future dioramas.
I´m sure if you look at eBay you´ll find similar stuff. The green bushes at the front of the house are from eBay. The first ones I had were bought at a home decor interior shop to make easy DIY trees. I founded them much cheaper on eBay and I bought a couple of them more. They can be split in two parts and they can be used as bushes.
