"The Cozy Corner": A coffe shop in the Sylvanian Town

In my last post, I mentioned my next project: decorating the interior of "The Cozy Corner," the coffee shop where Victor works. Today’s story is all about it. I hope you enjoy it!

The city is always busy, but things slow down here at "The Cozy Corner". People often ask about the name, since the coffee shop isn´t actually located on a street corner. The reason is simple:the wooden counter curves in a way that makes you feel like you are in your own cozy nook while you work.

There is also a round table tucked into a corner, which is most  customers´favourite spot.

As soon as you walk in,you´re greeted by the aroma of roasted coffe beans and the sweet scent of cinnamon from the pastries on the counter. It´s always warm and welcoming inside. This is where I start my shift every day.

My name is Victor Sandy, and if you have read Cutata’s previous story, you’ll already know a bit about me. I’m a university student working here part-time, and I’m deeply in love with Grizabella. Living in the city is expensive, so I’m saving money to fulfill my dream. I don’t just want to work in a coffee shop; I want to own my own chain and spread my coffee shops to every village and town in Sylvania."

I´m a huge coffee lover; before starting university, I took a professional barista training course, which is why I got the job. I´m obsessed with coffee quality and I love practising latte art.

Besides our classic coffees, we have signature lattes, hot teas and even rich hot chocolate.

We also have a great selection of cakes and fresh pastries to enjoy with your favourite drink.

I´ve been here long enough to know exactly what my regulars want.

Take , Lionel Grand, for instance,the famous pianist. He always sits in the comfy armchair with a cappuccino and a newspaper from our wooden magazine rack.

He´s a great guy. He always tips well and last week he even gave me two free tickets to his last concert.

Then ,there´s my friend Finn, who stops by for a quick take away coffee and a pastry to take down to his antique shop down the street.

Wednesdays are my busiest days because of our "Free Biscuit " promotion. You get a free biscuit with every drink. Mrs. Natalie Marlow and Mrs. Georgina Maple never miss their weekly visit. They always enjoy their Earl Grey Tea, especially when it´s served in our finest silver cups. 

They usually come with their little ones, who to be honest, can be quite a handful, but they always manage to charm me into giving them an extra biscuit.

Lately, I’ve been seeing a new face,a very quiet and elegant lady who usually sits in the armchair to read. I don’t know her name yet,so I refer to her as "The Lady in Pink" as she´s almost always dressed in delicate pink outfits.

My friend Liam is completely smitten with her.

I keep encouraging him to go over and say hello, or even to catch up with her when she leaves the coffee shop, but he’s so shy that he just stays back, admiring her from a distance.

Have you noticed the couple in the corner? He´s my Math proffesor and his wife.They drop by several times a week (and of course every Wednesday for the free biscuit).

Once he caught me studying under the counter while waiting for the next order and he gave me a nod of approval.Since that  day I have a feeling he´s secretly proud of me.

I’d also like to introduce a more recent regular, Mr. Sterling. He works at the Sylvanian Royal Bank. With his sharp suits and focused expression, he looked quite intimidating at first, but he’s actually a very kind man. He usually takes a stool at the counter and takes his time sizing up the pastries before deciding which one to have with his coffee.

Often, he finds it so hard to choose that he gives in and has two. We usually have a chat, and he always gives me great advice on how to make the most of my savings.

And of course, there’s Hope, one my best friends. She also likes to sit right at the counter. She’s incredibly friendly, and I love talking to her.Hope loves coffee, but she’s such a chocoholic that I actually added a Mocha Hot Chocolate to the menu with her in mind.

By the way, she mentioned that her sister,Peace, who is a bit of a hippie, lives with her boyfriend, Peter, in Sweet Berry Valley. I really must tell Grizabella,she’ll likely know them.

Then there are Stephanie, Laura, and Lulu, who always wear pastel-colored dresses that remind me of a box of sweets. I’ve nicknamed them 'The Macaron Girls' in a friendly way. They always order a tray of sweet treats to share with their drinks.

They may not be regulars, but even celebrities visit us sometimes! The famous singer Grace Cheshire once stopped in with Kelly Basset, her pianist and manager.She is my mother’s favorite artist so I was thrilled to get a signed photo to send home. My mother was absolutely over the moon!

Another couple on my list is  Stella and William. They both work at the Grand Department Store. They´ve been together since last year and always look very happy, but honestly,I think I´m more in love than they are, especially since my first date with Grizabella on Valentine´s Day.

As you have probably guessed, Grizabella is, of course, my favorite customer. She moved to the city from Sweet Berry Valley to study journalism a few months ago. She often comes in with her friend Felicia, who studies photography. Whenever they walk in, the whole shop feels brighter."

At the moment , they are working on a university project about the best shops in town. Grizabella writes the articles 

and Felicia takes the photos.I´m sure they´ll give The Cozy Corner a wonderful review. 

Some days, Grizabella visits just before closing time. That´s my favourite moment of the day.

I lock the front door,tidy up a bit, and prepare the last two drinks.

Meanwhile, she waits for me,leafing through a magazine from the wooden rack. 

We sit down to share a cup of coffee and the last treats from the trays, talking  about our day and our dreams.

Every cup I serve and every coin I save is a step closer to the future I´m building,a future that I´d love to share with her.

So, if you ever visit the Big City in Sylvanian, don´t forget to drop by for a coffee.I´ll be happy to serve you.

Right now, I’m starting to work on a different project: the first part of a spring-themed story. I have some crafting to do for it before taking the photos, but I’m hoping to have it ready by the end of March(fingers crossed that life doesn’t get in the way too much!)
